Materials

The performance of a blade is defined by several criteria, it is mostly influenced by the choice of materials. Baucor offers premium-grade carbide, high-speed steel, tool steel, and stainless steel.

Baucor’s manufacturing process includes the following steps to produce high-quality blades :

1. Cutting:
After designing the blade and choosing a material and treatment, it is sent to a CNC (computer numeric control) machine, which cuts the blade's blank to the desired specifications.

2. Heating:
Next, the blade is put through a heat treatment process to harden the metal and make it more durable. This process involves heating the metal to a high temperature and cooling it quickly. It helps to improve the strength and hardness of the metal so that it can better withstand wear and tear.

3. Sharpening:
Once the blade's blank is heat-treated, it is sharpened to remove any imperfections. And it undergoes a grinding process to refine and make the blade sharper.

4. Coating:
Finally, the blade tips are coated to improve their resistance to wear and corrosion. The most used materials for coating are chromium and tungsten.

Quality control:

During the manufacturing process and after it is complete, the blade is controlled rigorously to ensure that it meets the requirements. Quality control consists of the following steps:

A. Dimensional inspection:
We measure each blade we manufacture to verify that it complies with specified dimensions. We use cutting-edge metrology toolings to ensure accuracy.

B. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
We use non-destructive test methods to detect internal flaws or defects that are not visible to the naked eye.

C. Mechanical testing:
If required, the blade might undergo a mechanical load test to evaluate its hardness and durability in real-world conditions.
