How are punch tools manufactured?

  • Designing:
    Once the client's specific needs have been determined, the blade can be designed using CAD (computer-aided design) software. This step is crucial to ensure that the blade meets the client's expectations and needs. Without this step, the blade may not be able to perform up to the client's standards.

  • Cutting:
    After the blade has been designed on the computer, it is sent to a CNC (computer numeric control) machine, which cuts the blade's blank to the desired specifications. The CNC machine is programmed with the computer model's specific dimensions to cut the blade blank to the correct size.

  • Heating:
    Next, the blade is put through a heat treatment process to harden the metal and make it more durable. This process involves heating the metal to a high temperature and cooling it quickly. It helps to improve the strength and hardness of the metal so that it can better withstand wear and tear.

  • Sharpening:
    After the blade's blank has undergone heat treatment, it is sharpened to eliminate defects. It is then put through a grinding process to sharpen and refine the blade even further. 

  • Coating:
    Finally, coating the blade tips with materials like chromium or tungsten helps create a barrier between the blade and its environment, which can help improve the blade's overall lifespan and performance. Chromium and tungsten are commonly used for this purpose because they are durable and resistant to wear and corrosion.
